Government to Introduce Grain ATMs Soon: Sumit Godara
“Annapurti” Machines to Enable 24/7 Automated Grain Withdrawals in Pilot Cities
Jaipur: Over 4.35 crore beneficiaries under Rajasthan’s food security schemes may soon access their entitled rations without standing in long queues, as the state government plans to install automated grain ATMs, announced Food and Supply Minister Sumit Godara in the Assembly.
The pilot phase will see installations in Bharatpur, Jaipur, and Bikaner. Named Annapurti, the machines will allow citizens to withdraw wheat, rice, and pulses at any time using their ration cards. Developed in collaboration with the UN World Food Programme (WFP), the system ensures quick, transparent distribution with minimal human intervention. Beneficiaries’ identities will be verified before grain is dispensed directly into their bags.
Officials said the initiative aims to reduce waiting times, eliminate weighing errors, and strengthen transparency in the Public Distribution System (PDS). Following the pilot phase, the program will expand statewide.
The minister added that the state currently saves around Rs 1,500 crore annually by removing 18.64% of beneficiaries from the list through voluntary withdrawals under the Give Up Campaign and E-KYC verifications. Godara expressed gratitude to citizens who voluntarily gave up their entitlements, noting the move benefits the state and nation.
