Hardcore Criminal from Simbal Camp Booked Under PSA, Lodged in Poonch Jail

Jammu Police Crack Down on Repeat Offender; PSA Imposed on Notorious Criminal

Jammu, Nov 4: In a decisive action aimed at maintaining public order and curbing criminal activities, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked a hardcore criminal from Simbal Camp, Miran Sahib, under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged him in District Jail, Poonch. The accused, identified as Tajinder Singh alias Happy, a resident of Ward No. 4, Simbal Camp, has been a habitual offender with a long record of involvement in multiple violent and heinous crimes, officials said.

According to police sources, Tajinder Singh had been repeatedly arrested in the past for his involvement in serious offences, including assault, intimidation, and organized criminal activities that disrupted peace and security in the area. Despite several warnings and legal actions, he allegedly continued to engage in unlawful activities, showing blatant disregard for the law and posing a persistent threat to the safety and well-being of the community.

Citing his continuous involvement in criminal acts and the growing threat to public tranquility, the District Magistrate of Jammu issued a warrant under the Public Safety Act, which was executed by Miran Sahib Police earlier today. Following his arrest, Singh was shifted under tight security to District Jail, Poonch, where he has been lodged as per legal procedure.

Police officials emphasized that the action was part of an ongoing drive to dismantle networks of habitual offenders and ensure a secure environment for residents in Jammu and its adjoining areas. “The accused was involved in several cases of violence and intimidation that had created a climate of fear among locals. Despite repeated arrests and bail releases, he showed no signs of reform. His preventive detention under PSA was necessary to safeguard public peace,” a senior officer stated.

The Public Safety Act (PSA), a preventive detention law in force in Jammu and Kashmir, empowers authorities to detain individuals whose actions pose a threat to public order or state security. In this case, officials said, the decision was taken after careful assessment of the accused’s repeated involvement in offences and his influence within the local criminal network.
