“Hathras Victim’s Cremation Was Local Administration Decision”: UP Top Cop

Hathras: The choice to cremate the 19-year-old Hathras sufferer who died on Tuesday, a fortnight after she was allegedly gang-raped by 4 males, was taken by the native administration, stated Uttar Pradesh DGP HC Awasthy on Saturday.

Mr Awasthy was commenting on the allegations that Uttar Pradesh Police forcibly cremated the sufferer with out the consent of her household.

“I am unable to touch upon it. The choice was taken on the native administration degree,” DGP HC Awasthy advised to the reporter.

Earlier within the day, Further Chief Secretary (House) Avnish Awasthi and DGP HC Awasthy met the household of sufferer.

“We met the household of the sufferer and guaranteed them that stringent motion shall be taken in opposition to the responsible. SIT is investigating the case. Statements of the members of the family are being recorded,” ACS House Avnish stated.

In the meantime, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhry, Mukul Wasnik and KC Venugopal went to satisfy the household of sufferer after getting permission from the administration.

On the occasion, chief Randeep Surjewala advised reporters that they need justice for the sufferer and resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
