HC Directs Mohibbullah Nadvi, SP MP, to Pay ₹30,000 Monthly Maintenance to Fourth Wife

Allahabad High Court gives MP a three-month window to resolve matrimonial dispute through mediation while ensuring regular maintenance payments.

Allahabad, Oct 16: The Allahabad High Court has directed Samajwadi Party MP Mohibbullah Nadvi from Rampur to pay ₹30,000 per month as maintenance to his fourth wife, while also depositing a total of ₹55,000, during a period allotted for amicable resolution.

Justice Subhash Chandra Sharma granted the parties three months to settle their matrimonial dispute through the court’s mediation centre, emphasizing the possibility of reconciliation. The order came during a hearing on a plea filed by Nadvi challenging an April 1, 2024, decision of the Additional Principal Judge of the Family Court in Agra.

During proceedings, Nadvi’s counsel stated that the MP was willing to resolve the matter amicably. Accepting this, the court noted, “There is a chance to resolve the matter through mediation, and an attempt ought to be made to explore that possibility.”

The High Court clarified that failure to make the required deposit, defaulting on maintenance payments, or unsuccessful mediation would lead to the automatic cancellation of the interim order previously granted to Nadvi.

The court’s decision ensures that regular maintenance is secured for the MP’s fourth wife while providing a structured timeframe for a potential settlement between the parties.
