08-01-2023 : The cabinet of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu got expanded. According to the latest update, State Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to seven MLAs. First of all, the oldest MLA from Solan, Dhani Ram Shandilya took oath. This was followed by six-time MLA Harshvardhan Chauhan from Shillai in Sirmaur, former deputy speaker of Kinnaur Jagat Singh Negi, former CM Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh from Shimla Rural, Chander Kumar from Jawali in Kangra, Anirudh Singh from Kusumpatti and MLA from Jubbal-Kotkhai. Four-time MLA Rohit Thakur has taken oath as a minister. Sukhu cabinet expanded after one month.
Congress had won the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was made the Chief Minister after the election results came in favor of the Congress. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri was made with him. Exactly one month later, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s cabinet has also been expanded.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered oath to seven MLAs. In Himachal Pradesh, it had won 40 out of the total 68 seats in the assembly. This time BJP could win only 25 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party could not win even a single seat.
Meanwhile, before the cabinet expansion, CM Sukhu had on Sunday administered the oath of office of Chief Parliamentary Secretary to six MLAs. It is being told that all these MLAs were contenders for the post of minister. Instead of making these people ministers, they have been adjusted to the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretary. The MLAs who have been made parliamentary secretaries include Ramkumar Chaudhary, Mohan Lal Brakta, Ramkumar, Ashish Butail, Kishorilal, and Sanjay Awasthi. The initiative to make the first Chief Parliamentary Secretary in Himachal Pradesh started in the Virbhadra government.
