“Hollow Promises”: Omar Abdullah Calls Out BJP for Unfulfilled Commitments in J&K
Omar Abdullah Slams BJP's Decade of Misrule: J&K Residents Deserve Better!
JAMMU, Sept 21: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah has expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by the people of the region under the BJP-led government over the past decade. Speaking at public rallies in Nowshera, Kalakote, and Poonch in support of alliance candidates Surinder Choudhary, Yashuvardhan Singh, and Ajaz Jan, Omar highlighted the multiple crises that have afflicted the citizens of J&K during this period.
According to Omar, the last ten years of BJP governance have resulted in significant suffering for the residents, particularly for the youth and farmers. He emphasized that the population has grown increasingly disillusioned with the BJP’s policies, which he described as ineffective and damaging.
Omar pointed out that the promises made by BJP leaders following the abrogation of Article 370 have turned out to be empty words. He lamented the lack of tangible development and job creation, noting the prevalence of recruitment scams that have marred the employment landscape in J&K. The region currently faces a staggering unemployment rate, which he believes is a direct consequence of the BJP’s mismanagement.
In response to claims by the BJP regarding free rations, Omar criticized the inadequacy of the distribution, stating that no family can sustain itself on merely 2.5 kg of ration. He also pointed out that essential items like sugar and kerosene oil have been discontinued, contrasting this with the provisions during the National Conference’s previous governance, where families received 35 kg of ration and 7 kg per member.
Omar assured the audience that if the National Conference returns to power, it will restore these essential supplies and ensure adequate support for all families in J&K. He expressed confidence that the NC, alongside its alliance partners, is poised to form the next government with a comfortable majority.
Additionally, Omar raised concerns about the treatment of NC candidates, alleging that the administration is attempting to intimidate them and that they are being denied proper security for their rallies and movements. He urged party candidates and supporters to remain patient and resilient as they await the results on October 8.
Accompanying Omar were party MP Mian Altaf and other senior National Conference leaders, all united in their call for change and renewed hope for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
