Hrithik Roshan Approaches Delhi High Court Over Unauthorized Use of His Image and Voice

Bollywood actor seeks legal protection against AI-generated and online misuse of his identity

Mumbai, Oct 15 : In the era of social media and artificial intelligence, controlling personal identity online has become increasingly challenging even for Bollywood stars. Actor Hrithik Roshan has now turned to the Delhi High Court to safeguard his image, name, and voice from unauthorized commercial use.

Hrithik has filed a plea requesting the court to restrain anyone from exploiting his likeness, voice, or other personal attributes without consent. Justice Manmeet Pritam Arora is scheduled to hear the matter on Wednesday.

The legal action names several known and unknown individuals, including John Does, accused of profiting from the actor’s identity. The plea seeks an injunction to prevent misuse and protect Hrithik’s digital presence across online platforms and advertisements.

This case comes amid a growing wave of complaints over AI-generated and deepfake content. Recently, playback singer Kumar Sanu approached the Delhi High Court over morphed videos misrepresenting him. The court had also asked platforms like Meta and Google to explain the persistence of such offensive content online.

Personality rights, which allow individuals to control the use of their name, image, and likeness, have become a critical legal issue in India. Courts are increasingly intervening to prevent reputational harm caused by AI-generated material.

Previously, the Delhi High Court safeguarded actor Nagarjuna’s rights, noting that once AI-generated content is released online, it can multiply rapidly and cause long-term damage. Similarly, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan recently received protection orders preventing unauthorized use of their names and likeness in digital content or advertisements.

Hrithik Roshan’s plea highlights the urgent need to protect celebrities from identity exploitation in India’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
