Hurriyat Conference Chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Granted Permission for Personal Visit to Delhi by Authorities

Srinagar, 09-01-2024 : The authorities in Kashmir have granted permission to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, to travel to Delhi for a “personal” visit. The decision was conveyed by the management body of the 14th-century Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, known as Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, in a statement released on Tuesday.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, recognized as Mirwaz-e-Kashmir Mohammad Umar Farooq, had expressed the personal nature of his visit to Delhi, leading to the authorities granting approval for his travel. The statement further assured that Mirwaiz would return to Kashmir within a couple of weeks.

The approval for the Hurriyat Conference chief’s travel to Delhi underscores the acknowledgment by the authorities of the personal nature of his visit, emphasizing the temporary and non-political aspect of the journey.
