India AI Impact Summit 2026 Sets Guinness World Record for Most Responsible AI Use Pledges
Students across India take digital pledge in record-breaking campaign to promote ethical and human-centric AI
India, Feb 18 : The India AI Impact Summit 2026 has entered the Guinness World Records for securing the highest number of pledges for responsible use of Artificial Intelligence within a 24-hour period.
Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, confirmed the achievement, highlighting that the initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to engage students nationwide in ethical AI practices. “We reached out to schools and colleges across India, and the response was overwhelming,” Vaishnaw said.
The British record keeping body announced that a total of 2,50,946 pledges were collected during the Summit, far surpassing the target of 5,000. Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Patel formally presented the record certificate to the Union Minister during the event.
The record-breaking effort was part of a collaboration between IndiaAI and Intel India, conducted on the first day of the Summit, February 16. Students across the country took a digital pledge to uphold responsible AI practices, emphasizing ethical, human-centric, and sustainable innovation.
The AI Responsibility Campaign, spearheaded by the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, has now become a nationwide movement promoting safe, accountable, and inclusive AI development. The pledges collected were submitted for official recognition by Guinness World Records.
The Summit, held from February 16-20 in New Delhi, has brought together global policymakers, Heads of State and Government, ministers, industry leaders, innovators, researchers, startups, and students, positioning India as a hub for responsible AI adoption and governance.
