India Emerging as Global Leader in AI Revolution, Says PM Modi

PM Modi inaugurates AI Impact Summit 2026, positions India as global hub for digital infrastructure and responsible artificial intelligence

NEW DELHI, Feb 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that India is at the forefront of the global AI transformation, highlighting the country’s rapid advances in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, which runs from February 16 to 20 alongside the AI Impact Summit. The high-profile gathering brings together global leaders, industry captains, innovators, policymakers and researchers to deliberate on the future of artificial intelligence.

In a message posted on X, Modi welcomed delegates from across the world and underscored the summit’s theme, “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” welfare for all, happiness for all  reflecting a commitment to ensuring AI-driven growth remains inclusive and human-centric.

He noted that artificial intelligence is reshaping sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and enterprise, and expressed confidence that the deliberations would contribute meaningfully to global conversations on innovation, collaboration and responsible deployment of AI technologies.

Emphasising India’s preparedness to lead the next phase of technological change, Modi credited the country’s digital public infrastructure, dynamic startup ecosystem and expanding research capabilities for its growing influence in the AI domain. He said India combines ambition with accountability in its approach to emerging technologies.

In an earlier interview, the Prime Minister described India as a competitive destination for data infrastructure, citing recent Budget measures aimed at incentivising investment and reducing costs for advanced facilities. He reiterated that the country is ready to host global data and strengthen its position as a digital powerhouse.

The summit is being seen as a significant platform to shape future-ready policies and partnerships in the evolving AI landscape.
