India Firm on Anti-Terror Stand: Amit Shah Reiterates Zero-Tolerance Policy

Amit Shah pays tribute to victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, reaffirms firm stance against terrorism and its supporters

NEW DELHI, Apr 22: Marking the first anniversary of the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday reiterated India’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, emphasizing that those who support or shelter terror networks will also face decisive action.

In a message shared on X, the Home Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in the attack, stating that the pain continues to resonate across the nation. “The grief and anguish of losing our fellow citizens still lives in the heart of every Indian,” he said, underlining the emotional impact of the tragedy.

The attack, carried out in the picturesque town of Pahalgam in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 26 civilians, most of whom were tourists visiting the region. The incident, attributed to the Pakistan-based militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, drew widespread condemnation both domestically and internationally.

Reaffirming the government’s position, Shah described terrorism as a global menace that threatens peace and humanity. He stressed the need for collective resolve in combating extremist forces, adding that India remains steadfast in its mission to eliminate terrorism in all forms.

Following the attack, India launched a calibrated military response under Operation Sindoor. The operation targeted terror camps and strategic infrastructure across the border, including areas in Pakistan occupied regions, with the objective of dismantling networks responsible for orchestrating such attacks.

Officials maintain that the response demonstrated India’s capability and determination to act firmly against cross-border terrorism. Security measures have since been strengthened, with enhanced surveillance and intelligence coordination aimed at preventing future incidents.

Across the country, tributes were paid to the victims through remembrance events and public gatherings. Citizens and leaders alike reflected on the tragedy while reinforcing a shared commitment to national security and unity.

As India commemorates the anniversary, the message from its leadership remains unequivocal—terrorism will be met with resolute action, and the nation will continue to stand united against those who seek to undermine its peace and stability.
