India Hosts International Democracy Summit to Boost Global Electoral Collaboration
Election Commission welcomes 100 international delegates to IICDEM 2026 for discussions on election innovations and global standards
India, Jan 19 : India is set to host the Inaugural India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026 from January 21 to 23 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The three day event aims to position India as a global hub for dialogue on democratic practices and election management, with nearly 100 delegates from over 70 countries expected to attend.
Organised by the India International Institute of Democracy & Election Management (IIIDEM), the conference will feature plenary sessions, including the Inaugural Session, EMB Leaders’ Plenary, and EMB Working Group meetings. Thematic discussions will focus on global electoral challenges, international electoral standards, and best practices in election management.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, will formally welcome delegates and flag off the proceedings. In addition, the ECI will hold over 40 bilateral meetings with Election Management Bodies worldwide to deepen cooperation and exchange insights on shared challenges.
