05-05-2023 : According to recent data from the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 3,611 new cases of COVID-19. While this number may seem concerning, it is important to note that the active caseload has decreased to 33,232 from the previous figure of 36,244. Sadly, the death toll has risen to 5,31,642, including 36 new deaths, with 9 of those reconciled by Kerala. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has now reached 4.49 crore (4,49,64,289).
Despite the increase in fatalities, it is heartening to note that the recovery rate from COVID-19 in India remains high, with 98.74% of patients recovering from the virus. The active cases now make up only 0.07% of the total infections, a positive indication of the country’s ongoing efforts to combat the pandemic.
Moreover, a vast majority of patients who contracted the virus have successfully recuperated from the disease, with 4,43,99,415 people having recovered so far. However, the case fatality rate still stands at 1.18%, indicating the need for continued vigilance and caution.
In terms of vaccination efforts, India has administered a total of 220.66 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine as part of the nationwide vaccination drive. This effort remains an essential component of India’s strategy to combat the pandemic and prevent further spread of the virus.
