India Slams Pakistan Over Airstrikes on Kabul Hospital
New Delhi calls alleged strike on Kabul medical facility a grave violation of sovereignty; urges global accountability
New Delhi, Mar 17: India on Tuesday issued a strong condemnation of Pakistan over alleged airstrikes on a medical facility in Kabul, describing the incident as a “cowardly and unconscionable” act.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said the reported strike targeted the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital, resulting in heavy civilian casualties and damage to a facility that could not be justified as a military objective. It further accused Islamabad of attempting to portray the incident as a legitimate operation.
According to the Afghan authorities, hundreds were killed and many more injured in the attack. However, Pakistan has denied targeting any hospital, maintaining that its operations were directed at militant infrastructure and security threats.
India termed the incident a serious violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and warned that such actions pose risks to regional stability. It also highlighted what it described as a pattern of aggressive behaviour, calling for restraint and accountability.
New Delhi urged the international community to take note of the developments and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. It also extended condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirmed its support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during the ongoing crisis.
