India Triumphs 3-1 Over Wales in Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup

Hina Bano, Sunelita Toppo, and Ishika Star as India Edge Past Wales in 9/11 Qualification Match

India, Dec 08 :  Junior women’s hockey team registered a 3-1 win over Wales in their 9/11 qualification match of the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Cesped, Estadio Nacional, Santiago. Hina Bano (14’), Sunelita Toppo (24’), and Ishika (31’) scored for India, while Eloise Moat netted Wales’s lone goal in the 52nd minute.

India began the match aggressively, earning a penalty corner within the first 30 seconds and establishing early momentum. Despite multiple scoring opportunities, they struggled to break the deadlock until Hina Bano converted a tap in in the 14th minute. India extended their lead in the second quarter when Sunelita Toppo scored from a deflection following Sakshi Rana’s initial shot.

Early in the second half, Ishika scored off a rebound to make it 3-0, with India dominating possession and applying high pressure throughout. Wales managed to reduce the deficit late in the match through Eloise Moat, but India’s disciplined defense ensured a deserved 3-1 victory.

The team now turns its focus to the next match against Uruguay on December 9.
