Indian LPG Carrier Nanda Devi Safely Reaches Gujarat’s Vadinar Port via Hormuz Strait

Second LPG shipment reaches Gujarat safely as India ensures energy supply amid tensions in key shipping route

Gandhinagar, Mar 17: The Indian LPG carrier MT Nanda Devi reached Vadinar port in Gujarat on Tuesday, delivering 46,500 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas after a secure passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

The consignment is set for ship to ship transfer at anchorage, where cargo from the mother vessel will be offloaded to the daughter vessel MT BW Birch. Senior officials, including Sushil Kumar Singh, boarded the vessel to oversee operations and interact with the crew.

This marks the second successful LPG delivery to India via the crucial maritime corridor in recent days. Earlier, another Indian carrier, LPG Shivalik, arrived at Mundra port with a substantial cargo, further strengthening domestic supply.

Officials credited coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Shipping Corporation of India, along with support from naval forces, for ensuring safe navigation through the sensitive region.

Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that multiple Indian-flagged vessels continue to operate in the Persian Gulf, with hundreds of seafarers onboard reported safe. The developments come as India focuses on maintaining stable energy supplies amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties affecting global shipping routes.
