Jammu, June 20: Indian Railways achieved a significant milestone in Jammu and Kashmir as it successfully conducted a trial run on the world’s highest rail bridge spanning the Chenab River in the Reasi district. This trial run marks a crucial step towards operationalizing the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which aims to connect Kashmir to the rest of the country via railway.

Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, confirmed the successful trial via a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), underscoring the progress made in this ambitious infrastructure endeavor. Once completed later this year, the USBRL project will facilitate seamless rail connectivity across challenging terrains, significantly enhancing transportation options and fostering economic development in the region.

The 359-meter high Chenab Rail Bridge stands as a testament to engineering prowess, towering over the landscape and symbolizing India’s commitment to expanding its railway network amidst natural challenges.
