Iranian Strikes Escalate in Gulf, Reports of US F-15 Downed Over Kuwait and Explosions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha

Tehran [Iran], Mar 2 — The conflict in West Asia intensified on Monday following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Israeli-US airstrikes on Saturday. Iranian state media, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), claimed that a US F-15 fighter jet was shot down over Kuwait, sharing a video clip purportedly showing the aircraft’s crash.

“According to local sources, a US F-15 fighter jet was shot down in the skies above Kuwait earlier on Monday morning,” IRNA reported.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that Iranian missiles and drones targeted multiple locations in the region, including airports in Dubai, Kuwait, and Erbil, as well as residential areas in Israel, Bahrain, and Qatar.

Al Jazeera reported fresh explosions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, while loud blasts were heard in Doha. Arab news agencies also confirmed Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain. Eyewitnesses in Kuwait reported smoke rising near the US embassy. The Kuwait Air Defence Force intercepted several hostile aerial targets early Monday, ensuring no casualties, according to the Kuwait Army.

In the political arena, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, rejected any negotiations with the United States. The Provisional Leadership Council, formed after Khamenei’s death, is currently overseeing Iran until a new supreme leader is elected. Iranian state media report that at least 201 people have died across 24 provinces due to the ongoing attacks.

The Gulf region remains on high alert as tensions continue to escalate, with the potential for further military and civilian impacts.
