Israel, NASA Sign 10-Year Strategic Space Cooperation Agreement

Pact covers Moon missions, space station research and plan to send first Israeli woman to space

Washington, Dec 13: Israel’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Gila Gamliel has signed a ten-year strategic space cooperation agreement with NASA, marking a major expansion of bilateral collaboration in space exploration and scientific research.

The agreement was signed during an official working visit to NASA headquarters in Washington, where Gamliel met with senior leadership of the U.S. space agency. Discussions focused on advancing joint initiatives, including efforts to launch the first Israeli woman into space and deepen cooperation on lunar and deep space missions.

According to the Israeli ministry, the partnership will cover a range of flagship projects, including NASA’s Artemis programme, the MARE experiment, the launch of the ULTRASAT satellite, scientific experiments aboard the International Space Station, and expanded collaboration in space education and research.

“Nasa is our largest strategic partner in space, and the signing of this decade-long agreement reflects confidence in our scientific ability to jointly lead scientific and technological innovation from the Moon to space station research,” Gamliel said in a statement.

She added that the agreement reinforces Israel’s next national objective in space exploration. “We are now committed to the next national goal: training the first Israeli female astronaut,” the minister said.

The long-term agreement underscores Israel’s growing role in international space science and strengthens its partnership with NASA across exploration, technology development and education initiatives for the coming decade.
