J&K : Bharat Jodo Yatra resumes from Awantipora; Mehbooba, Iltija joins Rahul Gandhi

SRINAGAR,28-01-2023 : A day after the yatra was put on hold due to alleged security lapses, the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday with PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti accompanying Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders.

Rahul Gandhi is walking from Chursu with Mufti and a few other women. On the outskirts of Srinagar, at the Birla International School, Pampore, there will be a tea break, and the overnight stop will be at the truck yard.

On January 29, the Yatra will resume from Pantha Chowk and walk up to Nehru Park on the Boulevard Road. Rahul Gandhi will address a press conference there.

Rahul Gandhi had to cancel his walk on Friday after it entered Kashmir Valley, as the party alleged a security lapse and claimed the police arrangements by the Union territory administration “completely collapsed”.

The Gandhi scion drove a bulletproof vehicle over the Jawahar Tunnel and into the valley in Qazigund on Friday after starting his yatra from Banihal in the Jammu area. The security personnel struggled to manage and contain the mob of hundreds of party supporters while the yatra received a rousing welcome on this side of the tunnel. For the day, the yatra was cancelled.
