J.P. Nadda Honours GMC Anantnag Principal Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb for Exemplary Service

Anantnag, Mar 8: Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, has received an appreciation award from Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for her notable contribution to promoting affordable healthcare and supporting the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
The honour was presented during a ceremony held in New Delhi to mark Jan Aushadhi Diwas. The programme was attended by several senior officials, including Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel as the guest of honour and Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals Manoj Joshi as a special guest.
GMC Anantnag’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra among top performers
According to an official communication sent to the Principal Medical College office of GMC Anantnag, the Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK09614) functioning within the institution was ranked among the top four centres nationwide for recording the highest purchase volumes.
The recognition reflects the centre’s role in ensuring the availability of quality generic medicines at affordable rates, helping patients access essential treatment at reduced costs.
Officials noted that the award acknowledges the institution’s consistent efforts to support the government’s mission of expanding access to economical healthcare and strengthening the reach of generic medicines across the country.

Soon after news of the honour reached the official communication channels of GMC Anantnag, faculty members, doctors and staff extended congratulatory messages to Prof. Dr. Najeeb. Many described the achievement as a proud moment for the institution and its medical community.
