Jagdeep Dhankhar Attends Vice President Swearing-In, Marks First Public Appearance Since July Resignation

Former Vice President attends CP Radhakrishnan’s oath ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, ending months of low-profile absence

New Delhi : Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday made his first public appearance since resigning from office on July 21, attending the swearing-in ceremony of CP Radhakrishnan as the 15th Vice President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Radhakrishnan, the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) nominee. The ceremony was attended by top political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, and former Vice Presidents Hamid Ansari and Venkaiah Naidu.

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was notably absent, raising questions given his earlier remarks hinting at undisclosed circumstances surrounding Dhankhar’s resignation. Gandhi had referred to a “big story” behind Dhankhar stepping down.

Dhankhar’s resignation on July 21, officially attributed to health reasons, had surprised many and fueled speculation over possible political differences with the ruling party. Since then, he maintained a low profile, reportedly relocating from his official residence to a farmhouse in South Delhi’s Chattarpur area.

CP Radhakrishnan succeeds Dhankhar as India’s Vice President, and the swearing-in ceremony marked the first time the former VP appeared publicly since leaving office, drawing attention from political circles and the media alike.
