Jammu Implements ITMSS: 12 Major Locations Monitored for Traffic Violations

ITMSS in Jammu: Advanced Technology to Improve Traffic Flow and Safety

28-02-2023 : The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir has completed the first phase of implementing its Intelligent Traffic Management and Surveillance System (ITMSS), covering 12 major locations to catch traffic violators. The traffic department is managing an integrated command and control centre to monitor vehicular activity and penalize violators while improving traffic flow.

The ITMSS system captures automatic vehicle number plate identification, red light violations, use of mobile phones while driving, not wearing helmets on two-wheelers, and not using seatbelts while driving cars, generating e-challans with photo and video evidence sent to violators’ mobile phones via SMS. The first 12 major locations covered under the system include Zorawar Singh Chowk, railway station, and G L Dogra Chowk. Additionally, 26 more junctions will be covered under the ITMSS project, which started in November of last year.
