18-05-2023 : In a bid to maintain public safety and security, the Jammu police have issued an advisory cautioning the general public to remain vigilant regarding suspicious telecommunications spreading rumors about the upcoming G20 summit in the Kashmir valley. The advisory, released on Wednesday, specifically advises individuals not to respond to calls from certain numbers, including +44 7520 693559, +447418343648, +44 7520 693134, or any other ISD number associated with spreading false information about the G20 event.
The advisory emphasizes that these numbers are engaged in disseminating anti-national messages and propaganda. It urges the public to exercise utmost caution, avoid engaging with suspicious calls, and refrain from responding to any misleading information. In case of grievances or queries related to the matter, individuals are encouraged to contact the Cyber Police Station or the nearest police station for assistance.
In parallel, a review meeting was held by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for the Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar, on Monday. Field officers were briefed on the security arrangements for the upcoming G20 summit. The meeting stressed the importance of the timely deployment of magistrates and police personnel well in advance of the summit. The need to enhance security measures at vulnerable locations to mitigate the risk of terrorist attacks during the event was also reiterated. This summit, taking place from May 22 to 24 at the SKICC venue on the picturesque banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, marks a historic moment as it is the first time that the region of Kashmir will host such a prestigious international gathering.
