Jammu, 20-02-2022: In continuation investigation in the FIR No. 182/2021 case registered on 07-11-2021 at Channi Himmat police station regarding missing of revenue records. Lathas, Masavi, etc. of Chauvadi and Sunjuwan villages of Bahu Tehsil; Joint raids were conducted at several places by Jammu Police and Revenue officials in the early hours of today 20-02-2022, which are still going on at some places.
Searches were conducted at 21 locations of known land grabbers, property dealers, and serving/retired revenue officers who were on the officers’ radar. The locations of the said raids include Sunjwan, Chowdhary, Greater Kailash, Sanjay Nagar, Janipur, Gurjar Nagar, Bahu, Sidhra, Trikuta Nagar Extension, and Satwari area in Jammu and Saroor in Samba district. Those raided include 3 serving revenue officers, 5 retired revenue officers, and 8 private persons, who were allegedly involved in dubious land deals, forgery/destruction of revenue records/ land grabbing/ encroachment on state land. etc., on the basis of inputs received from various sources.
In addition, searches were conducted as per prescribed procedures by 21 different teams consisting of executive magistrates, police officers, and other officials including women constables and independent witnesses. The areas were divided into sectors, each being monitored by the SP/Dy. SP rank gazetted police officer.
During the search, a huge amount of revenue records in various forms have been recovered, including various incriminating documents, documents related to land deals, keys of bank lockers, the contents of which will be examined during the course of the investigation. Unaccounted cash amount Rs. 26.63 lakh have also been seized during the search. The agencies are also probing aspects of money laundering, disproportionate assets, enforcement of provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, PMLA Act, etc. Several people who raided today already have FIRs registered against them under various penal sections.
The government is committed to its resolve to eradicate any kind of corruption from the revenue department. Along with this, the revenue methodology has also been made more transparent with various people-friendly initiatives like issuance of land passbook in three languages, Aapki Zameen Aapki Monitoring programme, SVAMITVA scheme for Grameen Abadi Deh Bhoomi Survey, digitization of Jamabandis/Girdavari registers/RoRs. and being held accountable. and making various revenue-related services online as well as issuing online fards in a phased manner.
It is pertinent to mention that the documents seized include the original Jamabandi, Roznamcha register, maps of Lata, Mousavi, and especially the revenue villages Sunjwan and Chauvadhi. Some retired revenue officials and property dealers have also been arrested. The seized documents are being closely examined and further arrests are likely.
The entire process was closely monitored by senior officers of police and revenue administration in complete secrecy.
