Jantar Mantar Protest Exposes Congress-AAP-Left Nexus; Student Concerns Being Used for Political Gains: Pawan Sharma

Jammu, 18 July 2026: BJP Jammu & Kashmir State Secretary Pawan Sharma today expressed concern over the evolving nature of the ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar, stating that a movement initially projected as a platform for students and examination reforms is increasingly being overshadowed by political interests and ideological groups.

Sharma said that concerns related to paper leaks, examination irregularities, recruitment transparency, and accountability are genuine issues that deserve serious attention and meaningful reforms.

“Every hardworking student deserves a fair, transparent, and merit-based system. Any compromise with merit is an injustice to the aspirations of our youth,” he said.

However, Sharma observed that the protest has gradually shifted away from student-centric concerns and is increasingly becoming a platform for opposition politics.

“What began as a movement focused on examination reforms is now witnessing the active involvement of leaders and supporters associated with the Congress Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, and various Left-oriented groups. The focus is steadily moving away from students and towards political narratives aimed at attacking the government and democratic institutions,” he remarked.

He said the growing presence of professional activists and members of the broader Urban Left ecosystem raises important questions about the real objectives behind the agitation.

“The people of India can clearly distinguish between a genuine student movement and a politically managed campaign. When political parties begin dominating a platform meant for students, it becomes necessary to ask whether student interests are being represented or merely exploited,” Sharma stated.

While emphasizing that no responsible citizen can support paper leaks or corruption in examinations, Sharma said the solution lies in institutional reforms, stronger accountability mechanisms, technological safeguards, and strict action against those responsible.

“Students need solutions, reforms, and accountability. They do not need their concerns to be converted into a political spectacle. Educational reforms must remain the central focus,” he added.

Sharma further stated that India’s youth have strong faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness, and opportunities for the country’s young generation.

“The youth of India trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to protect their future. They believe that genuine concerns related to education, examinations, and employment will be addressed through democratic processes, institutional accountability, and meaningful reforms. Our youth seek progress and solutions, not political exploitation,” he said.

Calling upon students, parents, educators, and civil society to remain vigilant, Sharma urged all stakeholders to ensure that genuine educational concerns are not overshadowed by partisan politics.

“India’s students deserve justice, transparency, and merit-based opportunities. Their future must remain above political agendas and vested interests. Strengthening institutions, protecting merit, and delivering educational reforms should remain our collective priority,” Sharma concluded.
