Jharkhand Protest Enters 15th Day as Government Invites Another Agitator Group for Talks
Government to hold fresh discussions with another group of job aspirants as protesters continue hunger strike over examination reforms
Ranchi, August 8: The agitation over alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations entered its 15th day on Saturday, with the standoff between the state government and protesting job aspirants continuing despite a first round of talks.
The government is scheduled to meet another faction of the protesters at 10 am on Saturday in an effort to find a way forward on the issues raised by the aspirants.
The latest development follows a meeting held on Friday night between a 10-member delegation of the JPSC/JSSC Reforms Manch and a government panel led by Higher and Technical Education Minister Sudivya Kumar.
The discussions, however, failed to resolve the key demands of the protesters. Following the meeting, the students decided to continue their agitation and hunger strike until their demands are addressed.
One of their major demands is the cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination.
The protesters have alleged irregularities in the recruitment examination process and have been pressing the government for corrective measures and broader reforms in the state’s recruitment system.
The prolonged agitation has increased pressure on the state government to address concerns raised by candidates preparing for government jobs.
The decision to engage with another group of aspirants indicates that the government is continuing efforts to establish dialogue with different sections of the movement.
However, with the protesters maintaining their demand for action on the examination-related issues, a resolution remains uncertain.
The agitation has now continued for two weeks, with students refusing to withdraw their protest until they receive concrete assurances from the authorities on their demands.
