19-04-2023 : The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, in an impressive function today celebrated the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the jam-packed Conference Hall, in the Lawyers Chamber Complex Janipur Jammu. The function was graced by the august presence of Sh. N. Kotiswar Singh the Hon’ble Chief Justice and the companion Judges of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. On the occasion, the new Badminton Court for Lawyers was also inaugurated and dedicated to the Bar members by Hon’ble The Chief Justice in presence of companion judges and the ADGP Jammu Zone Sh. Mukesh Singh and District Judiciary and Bar Members.
The J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu thanked His Lordship, The Chief Justice and the ADGP, Jammu Zone , and the present team of office-bearers led by President Vikram Sharma, by whose collective indulgence, the long pending demand of members of Bar for a State-of-the-Art Badminton Court Turf was made available in the shortest possible time.
Rich floral tributes were paid to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by the Hon’ble The Chief Justice and the Judges of the High Court as also by the office-bearers of the Association on behalf of the Bar members. The proceedings commenced with the inaugural address by Sh. Parvesh Salaria, General Secretary, who highlighted the importance of the celebrations associated with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Jayanti.
President of the Association, Sr. Adv. Sh. Vikram Sharma threw light on the life and profile of dr. B.R. Ambedkar and his achievements which continue to inspire the modern day India. He stressed that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was born Indian and died as an Indian as per his famous quote that he was first and Indian and an Indian in the end and nothing in between. Mr. Sharma highlighted the highest educational qualifications which Dr. Ambedkar acquired during his lifetime which made him as the most educated member of the constituent assembly. Mr. Sharma further said that a tribute to Dr. Ambedkar would be only by a concerted effort to weed out discrimination in society.
Sh. Roop Lal Advocate in his speech explained as to how despite facing difficulties right from his childhood, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar emerged as an icon of changing the societal discrimination. He said that Dr. Ambedkar was a multifaceted personality par excellence.
Sh. N. Kotiswar Singh, The Hon’ble Chief Justice in his address brought out certain aspects of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s persona which was less known but which he said would be valuable in today’s times for an overall development of India as a country marching towards being a Global Leader. He stressed that Dr. Ambedkar has been a legend and shall always remain a beacon for Indians in all times to come.
Towards the end of the function, a concluding note was read by Vice president of the Association Sh. Amit Gupta as he thanked the august gathering for sparing time. Utkarsh Pathania cashier of the Association invited the august gathering for high tea.
