J&K High Court Bar Association Leads Massive Protest Rally in Jammu Against Pahalgam Terror Attack
Courts Shut, City Marches: Lawyers and Civil Society Unite in Jammu to Mourn and Condemn Barbaric Act
Jammu, 23rd April, 2025: The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, in order to strongly condemn the barbaric attack on Tourists at Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, Srinagar, took a protest rally alongwith other associations, organizations of civil society, from High Court Complex to all the bazaars of old city, Jammu to show solidarity with the victims killed in the brutal terrorist attack.
The members of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu also abstained from the work in all the Courts including Hon’ble High Court, Subordinate Courts, Hon’ble CAT, Consumer Forums / Commissions, Revenue Courts and other Forums. The protest rally raised slogan against the Anti Nationalist who are involved in the brutal terrorists attack on the tourists.
Taking serious note on said horrific incident, Sh. K. Nirmal Kotwal, President, JKHCBAJ, urged upon the Central Govt., U.T. Administration and police authorities to take immediate action against those involved in the said incident and further urged that thorough probe be done in the said incident. Office Bearers of the JKHCBAJ, stated that such barbaric acts of targeting innocent lives is an attack on the democratic values of society and deserve to be universally condemned. They must be met with determination and collective action. J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu call upon the Central and U.T Government and all concerned agencies to ensure that the guilty are brought to justice and law and order is maintained in the Central & U.T. of J&K.
Sh. K. Nirmal Kotwal (Advocate) President, JKHCBAJ also urged upon the U.T. Government to grant ex-gratia relief to the bereaved families of the victims/ demised persons.
The team of office bearers namely Vice President Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Majahan and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack that occurred in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam. This inhumane and senseless act of violence, targeting innocent civilians, is a stark reminder of the continued threat posed by those who seek to disrupt peace and harmony in the region. This cowardly act of violence against innocent lives is an affront to humanity and the principles of justice we uphold.
The Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu stands in full solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult time. The Association extend its deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers are also with those who have been injured, and we sincerely wish them a swift and full recovery. This barbaric act has no place in any civilised society. It is a direct assault on the values of peace, democracy, and the sanctity of human life.
The Association called upon the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators of this act are brought to justice and that all necessary measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future. It is imperative that the spirit of unity, resilience, and justice guide us through this time of grief.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu hold a joint protest alongwith Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Chamber of Traders Federation, All J&K Transport Union, Yuva Rajput Sabha, Amar Kshtriya Rajput Sabha, Other organisations of the civil society alongwith People of J&K. All the associations gathered under the statue of Brig. Rajinder Singh, where two minutes silence was observed offering prayers to the departed souls. President of JKHCBAJ K. Nirmal Kotwal, President of JCCI Arun Gupta, President of Transport Union Karan Wazir, President of Traders Federation Neeraj Anand, President of AKRJ Narayan Singh also addressed the gathering. The team of Young Lawyers Association including Amandeep Sharma (President), Bhagirath Singh (Vice President), Saksham (General Secretary), Hitesh Kaul (Joint Secretary), Sushil Kumar (Treasurer) also participated in the protest rally. Prominent Senior Advocates including Sh. M.K. Bhardwaj (Sr. Adv. & Former President, JKHCBAJ), Sh. M.R. Qureshi, Sh. Anwar Choudhary, other esteemed members of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu including S/Sh. The entire Jammu region came to a standstill today, observing a complete shutdown in response to the Bandh call issued by various associations, organizations, and civil society. This unified action follows the tragic terror attack near Pahalgam where many innocent lives, including those of tourists and locals, were brutally lost. The shutdown is a collective expression of grief, outrage, and solidarity with the victims’ families, as well as a powerful demand for justice and security.
The associations organizing the Bandh have voiced their deepest condemnation of the attack and have called upon both the Union Government and the Union Territory administration to take decisive and effective measures to prevent such heinous acts in the future. The Association urge the authorities to bring the perpetrators and their supporters to justice, ensuring that peace and safety are restored in the region.
This unprecedented display of unity across Jammu reflects the community’s resilience and unwavering resolve in the face of terror. Citizens from all walks of life have joined hands, sending a clear message that violence will not break their spirit. The hope remains strong that the government will rise to the occasion, fortify security, and protect the sanctity of life in Jammu and Kashmir.
