J&K Police Detain Haryana Preacher in Connection with ‘White Collar’ Terror Module Case

Ninth arrest in interstate crackdown, explosives tied to Red Fort blast recovered from preacher’s rented residence at Al Falah University

Srinagar, Nov 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained a preacher from Mewat, Haryana, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the ‘white collar’ terror module allegedly operating from Al Falah University in Faridabad, officials said on Wednesday.

The detainee, identified as Maulvi Ishtiyaq, was residing in a rented accommodation within the university complex, from where police recently recovered over 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate, and sulphur, according to officials.

He has been brought to Srinagar for questioning and is likely to be placed under formal arrest, making him the ninth person detained in the case so far.

The arrest follows a series of interstate raids conducted on November 10 by police teams from Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, as part of efforts to dismantle a sophisticated network linked to the banned terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).

Investigators believe the seized explosives were stored at Maulvi Ishtiyaq’s residence by Dr. Muzammil Ganaie alias Musaib and Dr. Umar Nabi, the latter identified as the driver of the explosives laden car that detonated near the Red Fort on Monday evening, killing 12 people.

Officials said the ongoing probe is focused on uncovering the full scope of the ‘white collar’ terror network, which allegedly involved educated operatives using academic and professional covers to aid militant activities.
