J&K Police Seize Rs 2-Crore Property of Notorious Drug Peddler in Srinagar

Property seized under NDPS Act after investigation links assets to drug trafficking proceeds

SRINAGAR, Dec 10: Continuing its crackdown on the drug menace, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached a three-storeyed residential house along with one kanal of land in Shaltang, valued at around ₹2 crore, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The property is in the possession of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Shaltang, and father of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat  a notorious drug peddler involved in narcotics-related activities.

Police said Manzoor Ahmad Bhat is an accused in FIR No. 98/2025 registered at Police Station Parimpora under Sections 8, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act. During the investigation, it was established that the attached property had been acquired using proceeds generated from illegal drug trafficking.

Based on these findings, the competent authority ordered the attachment of the property under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The attachment was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, strictly following legal procedures.

As per the order, the property owner has been barred from selling, leasing, altering or creating any third-party interest in the attached assets.

Reiterating its commitment to dismantling drug networks, Srinagar Police said strict legal action will continue against those involved in narcotics trade and those benefiting from its proceeds.
