JKPCC Leaders Brief AICC Gen Secy on Political Landscape and Preparations for ULB and Panchayat Elections

AICC Gen Secy Reviews J&K Situation and Calls for Unity Ahead of ULB Polls

30-05-2023 : During a meeting with the senior leadership of Jammu and Kashmir in the Union capital, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K C Venugopal (MP) reviewed the overall situation and the party’s preparedness for the upcoming elections to the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayats. Venugopal cautioned the Pradesh Congress cadre to set aside their differences and work in close coordination for better results in the elections. He advised JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani to ensure better coordination with senior leaders and strive for victory in the upcoming polls.

Emphasizing the importance of unity, Venugopal urged the senior JKPCC leaders to work towards strengthening the party and to prioritize the party’s interests over personal grudges. He encouraged them to intensify their activities and preparations for the elections to the ULB and Panchayats in a coordinated manner. Furthermore, he stressed the need to raise public issues forcefully and expose the BJP’s alleged wrong policies.

The J&K party leaders briefed the AICC General Secretary about the current political situation and the party’s efforts in preparation for the upcoming elections. They highlighted that party leaders are consistently engaging with the masses and addressing public concerns while criticizing the BJP-led government at the center and the “proxy government” of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. They also mentioned the positive response received for the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” led by Rahul Gandhi and the party’s landslide victory in Karnataka.

The party leaders expressed that the people are discontented with the BJP government, citing concerns such as soaring prices, rampant unemployment, job scams, and other anti-people actions. They also reiterated the demand for the early restoration of statehood and immediate elections to the dissolved Assembly, which has been non-functional for approximately five years.

The meeting was attended by AICC Incharge of J&K affairs Rajni Patil (MP), JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani, CWC Member Tariq Hameed Karra, AICC Joint Secretary Co-Incharge Manoj Yadav, former JKPCC Presidents Peezada Mohd Sayeed and Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Working President Raman Bhalla, Ex-DyCM Tara Chand, former Minister Mula Ram, and senior leaders including Th Balwan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Monga, NSUI President Neeraj Kundan, and JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma.

Additionally, several JKPCC leaders, including Working President Raman Bhalla, met with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in the Union Capital. They congratulated him on the party’s resounding victory in Karnataka and discussed the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, organizational matters, and socio-political developments under the administration of the Lieutenant Governor.
