JKPCC Celebrates India’s 78th Independence Day with Tricolor and Tribute to Freedom Fighters

Srinagar Aug 15, 2024: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday celebrated Independence Day at the Srinagar Party Office and unfurled the tricolor followed by the National Anthem.
In an extraordinary function, Senior Congress Leaders, JKPCC Office bearers, DCC Presidents and prominent Party workers including frontal organizations celebrated the 78th Independence Day at Srinagar Party Office and exchanged greetings. The jubilant Congress cadres distributed sweets on this occasion.
Tricolour was hoisted by JKPCC Senior Vice President and Ex. MLC G.N. Monga followed by guard of honour by CRPF contingent post at Congress HQ.
On this occasion, the participants led by G.N.Monga recollected the supreme sacrifices of Freedom Fighters, who fought for the dignity and honour of the Nation and laid down their lives to achieve freedom from the barbarism unleashed by the British Colonial Rule.
The nation is feeling proud to have achieved freedom on this day, Monga added and told the participants that Independence Day commemorates India Freedom from British Colonial Rule for more than 200 years on august 15 1947.
He said India started the struggle for freedom with the revolt of 1857, later around 1920 the freedom struggle gained momentum under Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership. On July 4, 1947, the British House of Commons introduced the Indian Independence Bill with the result India became an Independent Nation on 15 August.
The first Prime Minister of Independent India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru on the eve of India’s Independence hailed this historic achievement, as a tryst with Destiny, Monga said.
On August 15 Nehru Ji hoisted the Indian National Flag at Red Fort in Delhi, subsequently, It became a tradition that every Prime Minister has since followed with an address to the Nation on Independence Day, JKPCC Senior Vice President averred.
