Joint Security Operation In Kulgam Leads To Arrest Of OGW, Recovery Of Grenades And Suspicious Material

Police, Army and CRPF recover explosive material during naka checking in Mohammadpora village

KULGAM, May 21: Security forces on Thursday arrested an alleged Over Ground Worker during a joint operation carried out in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered grenades along with incriminating material from his possession.

According to officials, the operation was conducted jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police, 34 Rashtriya Rifles of the Army and 18 Battalion of the CRPF during a naka checking operation in Mohammadpora village.

During the search, the joint team intercepted a suspicious individual and recovered two hand grenades, posters and other objectionable material allegedly linked to unlawful activities.

The accused was identified as Aadil Hussain Lone, son of Mohd Sadiq Lone, a resident of Mohammadpora in Kulgam district. He was taken into custody on the spot for further questioning and investigation.

Police officials said a formal case under FIR No. 88/2026 has been registered at Police Station Kulgam under relevant legal provisions. Investigators are examining the recovered material to determine possible links and wider connections.

Officials added that further arrests and recoveries cannot be ruled out as the investigation progresses. Security forces have also intensified surveillance and checking operations in the area to prevent any potential militant activity.

The arrest comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to dismantle militant support networks operating in different parts of Kashmir.
