Jr World Cup Hockey: India Crush Chile 7-0 as Rosan Kujur, Dilraj Singh Bag Brace Each

Indian junior men’s hockey team dominates Pool B opener at FIH Junior World Cup 2025 in Chennai.

Chennai, Nov 29: The Indian junior men’s hockey team made a sensational start to the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025, thrashing Chile 7-0 in their first Pool B match at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Egmore, Chennai. The match coincided with the tournament’s grand opening ceremony.

Rosan Kujur (16′, 21′) and Dilraj Singh (25′, 34′) both scored braces, while Ajeet Yadav (35′), Anmol Ekka (48′), and captain Rohit (59′) also found the net. Goalkeepers Bikramjeet Singh and Prince Deep Singh kept a clean sheet to complete a flawless performance.

The first quarter saw Chile hold their ground, preventing India from scoring despite earning a penalty corner in the 15th minute. India broke the deadlock in the second quarter with Rosan Kujur scoring in the 16th minute, followed by his second goal at the 21st minute, giving India a commanding 2-0 lead.

Dilraj Singh extended the lead to 3-0 in the 25th minute. In a quick succession of goals, he struck again in the 34th minute after a brilliant assist from Ankit Pal, followed immediately by Ajeet Yadav’s fifth-minute goal.

The final quarter saw Anmol Ekka convert a penalty corner in the 48th minute, while captain Rohit sealed the 7-0 victory with a penalty stroke in the 59th minute.

The Indian team dominated from the second quarter onwards, showcasing attacking flair, clinical finishing, and solid defence, signaling strong ambitions for the tournament.
