Kalsotra paid tributes to the son of the soil Babu Parmanand on his 91st birthday

Jammu 10.08.2022: Today is the 91st  birthday of Late Sh. Babu Parmanand ji who served as Governor of Haryana State, Finance, Power, Housing Minister of J&K, and Speaker of J&K Assembly & founder of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi, J&K. He was an Intellectuals of the Dalit community. He passed away on 24th April 2008.

While paying tribute, Sh. R K Kalsotra, State President of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations (J&K) praised Babu Ji and expressed that he was a leader of extremely high stature not only among SCs but in general also. Kalsotra knew him since 1970 and at many occasions, he sat together and discussed many issues for the welfare of the downtrodden. Babu ji shared Confederation’s platform with us and graced many functions.

His personal advice to us on many occasions was to never leave your social work even if people criticize you. Kalsotra addressed the gathering that he is doing social justice work constantly since 1997 following Babuji’s legacy. Many amendments were made at J&K Level for the betterment of Sc st obc samaj and a few are the Reservation Act 2004, Amendment of SRO-294, Inter Distt  Recruitment to SCs, and Restoration of Reservation in recruitment.

Kalsotra further apprised the participants that slowly and gradually the govt is finishing our constitutional rights by privatizing the govt sector, and in the future, there would be no scope for our educated youth for employment. A huge backlog is created in employment, and reservation in promotions is also stopped. caste atrocities are at the rise, fundamental rights of equality, education, religion, and freedom are weakened day by day and to protect these rights, Confederation is organizing a National Convention for Save Constitution-Save Rights at JAMMU on 16 Oct.2022, all are requested to join hands to accelerate the Social Justice Movement which was the thought of Babu Parmanand Ji. Kalsotra also apprised, National leaders of SC, ST OBC, and minorities will take part in the Convention.

Kalsotra in his message mentioned that Dalit Sahitya Academy in J&K was founded by Babu Parmanand Ji with a desire to help and Educate Dalit people and impart education and training to young, helpless, needy students, and prepare them for higher exams like IAS/KAS so that they could earn their places in the society and become officers with higher Ranks.
