Security tightened as aerial activities suspended in Palampur and Baijnath during high-profile event
Kullu, April 29: The Kangra district administration has ordered a temporary suspension of all aero sports and aerial operations in the Palampur and Baijnath sub-divisions on April 30, ahead of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu.
The restrictions will be in force from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and cover activities such as paragliding, drone operations, hot air ballooning, and other airborne pursuits. The directive was issued by Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa on Tuesday as part of heightened security arrangements.
Preventive Measures for High-Level Visit
Authorities stated that the step is precautionary in nature to ensure seamless security during the President’s scheduled visit to Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University in Palampur. The event is expected to witness the presence of senior government officials, ministers, and other dignitaries.
Officials emphasized that restricting aerial activities will help avoid any potential security risks and ensure effective monitoring of the airspace in and around the venue.
Tight Vigil Across Key Locations
Security agencies have intensified surveillance across the district, particularly in sensitive zones surrounding the university campus. Local authorities are coordinating closely with law enforcement units to maintain law and order during the high-profile visit.
The administration has urged residents, tourists, and aero sports operators to adhere strictly to the guidelines and cooperate with officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
