Reflecting on this period, Kapil shared, “I started working at a PCO after Class X to make some pocket money. Although initially rejected, he became a contestant, won the third season in 2007, and used his Rs 10 lakh prize money to fund his sister’s wedding. He then participated in Comedy Circus, winning six seasons, and hosted shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6 and prestigious events such as the 2017 Filmfare Awards.

Kapil’s fame skyrocketed in 2013 with Comedy Nights With Kapil on Colors TV. Over the years, celebrities have confirmed that he earns lakhs to crores per episode. With the Netflix relaunch as The Great Indian Kapil Show, Kapil reportedly earns Rs 5 crore per episode. Across three seasons and roughly 40 episodes, this alone accounts for an estimated Rs 200 crore.

Kapil Sharma resides in Mumbai and owns multi-crore properties in India and abroad, including a luxurious Mumbai home valued at Rs 15 crore and a farmhouse in Patiala. He also launched Kap’s Cafe with his wife Ginni Chatrath in July 2025 in Surrey, Canada.
