Filmmaker thrilled as Neeraj Ghaywan’s film secures Second Runner Up at Toronto International Film Festival, celebrating global audience appreciation
Mumbai, Sep 15: Filmmaker Karan Johar is elated as his latest production ‘Homebound’ earned international recognition, winning Second Runner Up in the People’s Choice Award category at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025.
Directed by National Award-winning Neeraj Ghaywan, the film has captivated audiences worldwide, prompting Karan Johar to share his excitement on Instagram along with the official poster starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor.
Calling the honour “surreal,” Karan wrote, “Always more special when it’s the people’s choice. ‘Homebound’ is a story we are all so proud of, and to see it loved and accepted across the globe, beyond language and barriers, is magical.” He also thanked TIFF for providing such a prestigious platform and expressed gratitude to Neeraj Ghaywan for allowing Dharma Productions to be part of the project.
‘Homebound’ narrates the journey of two childhood friends from a small North Indian village whose dream is to become police officers, seeking respect and dignity in society. The film explores themes of friendship, ambition, and the challenges faced while chasing one’s dreams.
While ‘Homebound’ garners international acclaim, Karan Johar is already gearing up for his next project, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, which is scheduled for an earlier theatrical release.
