Kashmir Crime Branch Charges Six in CAT Record Tampering Case
Economic Offences Wing files chargesheet against six accused for unauthorised alterations in CAT records
Srinagar, Nov 19: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against six individuals for their alleged involvement in tampering official records submitted before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).
The chargesheet, filed under FIR No. 87/2022, cites Sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, and has been submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar. The accused include Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mudasir Yousuf Wani, Ghulam Mohammad Reshi, Bashir Ahmad Dar, and Anoop Mishra of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The case originated from a communication highlighting suspected tampering of documents submitted before CAT Srinagar in TA No. 4100/2021 by the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer. Investigations revealed that records were unlawfully altered while in CAT’s custody. Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, allegedly in criminal conspiracy with CAT employee Anoop Mishra and other beneficiary employees, made unauthorised insertions regarding their regularisation in the Horticulture Department.
Investigators recovered at least twelve official seals of various departments, including Director Horticulture, BDO, Tehsildar, ZEO, Principals, and Headmasters, from Pathan Majid Khan’s residence. Call detail records and WhatsApp messages further corroborated the conspiracy and criminal breach of trust by Anoop Mishra.
The chargesheet has now been submitted for judicial determination.
