Kashmir Crime Branch Chargesheets Three, Including Complainant, in Fake Railway Recruitment Scam
Economic Offences Wing finds complainant also part of forged appointment letter racket that duped job seekers
SRINAGAR, Dec 19: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in a fake Railway recruitment scam, booking three accused persons including the original complainant for allegedly duping job aspirants with forged appointment letters, officials said on Friday.
The chargesheet has been submitted before the court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Beerwah, Budgam, under Section 173 of the CrPC for judicial scrutiny.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Chewdara, Budgam; Adil Shah of Sonwarhere, currently residing in Zewan, Srinagar; and Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar of Sopore, presently living in Beerwah, Budgam.
The case originated from a written complaint lodged by Kumar, who had alleged that Sheikh and Shah issued him fake appointment letters claiming recruitment through the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), New Delhi. The forged letters carried fabricated seals and a fake signature of the Deputy General Manager (DGM), Northern Railway, Paharganj.
Following the complaint, the EOW launched a detailed investigation, which prima facie revealed that the accused conspired to lure job seekers with promises of government employment and collected large sums of money in return.
During verification, several appointment letters were confirmed to be forged. The investigation further uncovered that the complainant himself was actively involved in the scam. Officials said Kumar had taken money from multiple victims on the pretext of securing Railway jobs and had issued fake job orders to them.
The probe established Kumar’s complicity in the fraudulent network, operating in coordination with the other accused to deceive unemployed youth.
Based on the evidence collected, the Crime Branch concluded that all three accused were integral to the recruitment fraud and proceeded to file the final chargesheet for further legal proceedings.
