Kashmir Police Launch Widespread Raids in Major Crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami
Searches carried out across five districts; electronic devices and documents seized for investigation
Srinagar, Nov 27: Police on Thursday carried out coordinated raids across multiple districts of Kashmir as part of an intensified crackdown on the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), officials said.
Search operations were conducted in Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam, Kulgam and Kupwara, targeting residential premises and other locations linked to JeI members and their associates. Officials said the action is part of sustained efforts to dismantle terror networks and disrupt support structures connected with the proscribed outfit.
The raids were triggered by credible intelligence inputs indicating the involvement of certain JeI-linked individuals in anti-national activities, they said.
During the searches, police recovered electronic devices, documents and incriminating literature, all of which have been seized for detailed forensic examination.
In Kupwara, the crackdown extended to the Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora, Handwara, where searches were conducted following information about suspected unlawful activities and possible links to the banned organisation, officials added.
Further investigation is underway.
