Kavinder flags off J&K’s Baseball team for national tournament at LPU Jalandhar
Asks J&K Sports Council to provide adequate facilities to sportspersons
JAMMU, Sept 7: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Ministet today flagged off J&K’s Baseball team for national level tournament at Lovely Professional University Jalandhar.
On the occasion, Raju Sharma, President J&K’s Baseball team, Dr Gulam Hassan, Harvinder Singh, Ashok Jamwal and Hasina also accompanied the team to Jalandhar.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder said that under Khelo India initiative, J&K also has made much progress as seen by the improvement in sports edifice. He said that LG Manoj Sinha’s initiative has brought in New Sports Policy and people are motivated to join this arena as a career.
Kavinder Gupta said J&K has no dearth of talent but there is need for identifying the talented lot and providing them the best available coaching so that they find their rightful place in the national and international events. He, however, expressed concern over implementation of New Sports Policy at ground level. He said that the people sitting at helm should ensure that the benefit of sports policy percolates to the last man practicing at the playground to fetch maximum out of it.
The former Deputy Chief Minister asked the J&K Sports Council to proactively involve in promoting sports for which it must focus on providing adequate sports facilities, diet and sponsorship to sports aspirants on the pattern of Haryana Government so that our sportspersons will be able to brining more medals for J&K.
