JAMMU, June 13: Underscoring the importance of startups in the country, senior BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta said startups will determine India’s future economy as well as that of the world.
Speaking at the GMF PINNACLE AWARDS- 2022 ceremony held here today, Kavinder said one of the major achievements of the Modi government has been the boost provided by the startup movement.
Calling Indian startups the future of the economy, Kavinder said “In India, we started nurturing the startup ecosystem 2016 onwards under the leadership of our Prime Minister, and today, we have risen to be the third largest startup ecosystem in the world in just five-six years which is not a very big time,” he said.
The former deputy Chief Minister said Indian startups are actually scripting history and have astonished the whole world in a very short period of time. “Today, the new India is not looking for a secure future. It is ready to take risks, innovate and incubate. And this is why in around 2014…we had some 100, 200 to 400 startups but today in a short span of time, this figure has risen to some 70,000 plus startups,” he added.
Earlier, Kavinder Gupta along with Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta honored the representatives of various institutions shortlisted by GMF who have created a niche in the field of Economic, Environmental and Social Development.
Kavinder Gupta appreciated the efforts of Green Maple Foundation for acknowledging the individuals, organizations and Institutions for their outstanding contribution in the field of Economic, Environmental and Social Development,” he added. He asserted that there is dire need to motivate the people in their respective field as the same would boost their morale and encourage them in taking the country to new heights.
Kavinder wished the Green Maple Foundation for great success in near future and hoped that the Foundation would achieve great success in near future and would continue its mission in recognizing the contributions of people of the country.
In his address, Ashutosh Verma, Managing Director, GMF Group, said Green Maple Foundation (GMF) is a non-profit organization, which is a registered body by the people of Indian origin. “Our aim is to create awareness by organizing and conducting seminars / award ceremonies, which is aimed for recognizing and honouring the individuals and organizations / associations / Institutions / Individuals for their outstanding contribution mainly in the field of Economic, Environmental and Social Development,” he added.
