Kharge Condemns BJP Government, Urges Nation to Teach a Lesson for Alleged Constitutional Erosion

Nagpur, 28-12-2023 : In a forceful critique of the BJP-led central government, Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress national president, raised serious apprehensions regarding the prevailing state of democracy and the Constitution in the country. Speaking at a rally marking the party’s 139th foundation day at Bharat Jodo Maidan, Kharge underscored the urgent need to impart a significant lesson to both the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he perceives as their failure to uphold democratic principles. He decried the substantial rise in inflation and unemployment during the BJP’s tenure and voiced objections to the government’s apparent reluctance to fill the staggering 32 lakh vacant central government posts, citing concerns about the underprivileged classes being denied opportunities.

Accusing Modi of prioritizing international travel over parliamentary responsibilities, Kharge condemned the suspension of 146 Opposition MPs during parliamentary sessions, characterizing it as a mockery of democracy. The Congress chief further alleged that despite accumulating a monumental debt of Rs 200 lakh crore, the Modi government has curtailed funds for essential welfare schemes and neglected to provide scholarships to students hailing from backward communities. Expressing distress over an escalation in atrocities against Dalits during the Modi government’s tenure, Kharge warned of the potential ruin for the country and the looming destruction of the Constitution if the BJP is not reined in.

Urging the people to teach both Modi and the BJP a lesson for what he perceives as their lack of support for democratic values, Kharge’s impassioned appeal resonates with the broader concerns about the state of governance and democratic principles in the country.
