Khatana Visits Flood-Affected Areas of Nagrota Constituency, Slams Omar Government for Neglect, Directs Officials to Take Immediate Action
Jammu, 24 September 2025: MP Rajya Sabha, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, today conducted an extensive visit to the flood-affected areas of Bamyal, Marh, Shiba, Panjali, and Bera Bali in Nagrota Constituency to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains and flash floods.
Khatana criticized the National Conference Government under Omar Abdullah for failing to address crises and neglecting the constituency after the floods. He pointed out that no government officials had visited these areas until now and that no supplementary list for relief or rehabilitation has been prepared so far. He urged the current administration to take immediate steps to bridge this gap and ensure affected families receive prompt support.
During the visit, the Hon’ble MP was accompanied by the District Administration and heads of all concerned departments, including PMGSY, Revenue, PWD, Jal Shakti, Agriculture, PDD, RDD, Police, Food, Flood, and Irrigation. Under his guidance, these officials conducted on-the-spot assessments of damage to public and private property, agricultural land, and essential infrastructure.
Khatana instructed the concerned PMGSY officials that if the existing contracts for road restoration are not being executed properly, they should be terminated immediately and fresh contracts awarded to ensure timely completion. He further emphasized strict monitoring of all ongoing works and accountability of officials to guarantee that the people’s needs are met without delay.
Interacting with the affected families, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana personally listened to their grievances and assured them of full government support. He directed the officers present to ensure immediate relief, timely redressal of issues, and swift restoration of essential services. Khatana emphasized that the government stands firmly with the people in this hour of distress and that every possible assistance is being extended to address both human and material losses. He further highlighted that a comprehensive assessment of damages, both residential and agricultural, is underway and that relief measures will be expedited without delay.
Highlighting the proactive role of the Central Government, Khatana stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the situation and has directed all agencies to provide full support to the affected regions. He assured residents that the central government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with them and that relief operations are being expedited under PM Modi’s leadership to restore normalcy at the earliest.
Khatana was accompanied by senior BJP leaders and public representatives, including State Vice President BJP Sh. Zulafqar Ali Mumtaz, Chairman Sh. Rajak Ali Putto, Ch. Nasereen Akhter, Mandal Pardhan Sh. Sanju Sharma, Block President Sanjay Sharma, Talib Hussain, Mohd Sadeeq, Gafoor Hussain, Manzoor Ahmed, Shokat Ali, and Bashir Ahmed, along with a large number of local residents.
