Kishtwar Admin under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner finalizes District Environment Plan
Chairman DLEC scrutinized the sub-plans which were deliberated upon by the committee in detail and suggested measures were included for finalization of the plan.
KISHTWAR, MARCH, 16: District Level Environment Committee (DLEC), which met today here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma finalized the District Environment Plan envisaging a host of activities to be taken up by different departments during next year.
During the meeting, the sub-plans submitted by the concerned stakeholder departments and members of DLEC were reviewed in detail by the DC.
The plan aimed at improving overall parameters of the environment in the district, including restoration of water bodies, widespread plantation initiatives, measures to curb the use of plastic/ polythene, improving the disposal of solid waste, e-waste and biomedical wastes, community participation, and mass awareness, strengthening Green Clubs, soil and moisture conservation, water conservation, measures aimed at curbing air and water pollution and grievance redressal mechanism.
Detailed presentations were made by departments of Health, Urban Development, Industries, Forest, Education, Revenue, Rural Development regarding various initiatives for environmental conservation and improving the parameters.

The chair appreciated the efforts of the departments in working out a professional and outcome-based environment plan.
He further stressed upon the District Level Environment Committee to meet once a month for concurrent evaluation of steps taken and effective inter-sectoral coordination to achieve the targets.
The Chairman DLEC also asked the members to work in tandem and bring awareness among the masses and rope in the PRI, students, and common masses in the implementation of the DEP in the district to achieve tangible results.
