Kishtwar: Security Forces Launch Massive Operation To Hunt Down Terrorists In J&K

Security forces deploy drones, sniffer dogs, and reinforcements in the Chatru forest area after Wednesday’s encounter left one jawan injured.

JAMMU, Nov 6: Security forces have launched an extensive cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district to trace at least two to three terrorists suspected to be hiding in the dense forest areas of Chatru, officials said on Thursday.

The operation was initiated following an encounter between terrorists and security personnel on Wednesday, during which one jawan sustained injuries. According to sources, the terrorists involved are believed to be of Pakistani origin.

“A massive search operation is currently underway to locate the terrorists. There has been no exchange of fire since Wednesday afternoon,” a senior security official stated.

Drones, sniffer dogs, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to tighten the security cordon and assist in combing operations. Security forces continue to maintain high alert in the mountainous terrain, which has become a hotspot for militant activity in recent months.

Kishtwar has witnessed at least six encounters in the last seven months, highlighting the persistent threat from Pakistan-based terrorist groups attempting to infiltrate and operate in the region bordering Doda and Udhampur districts.
