Jammu, October 2: In a  tragic incident, a head constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) reportedly succumbed to a bullet injury under mysterious circumstances within the confines of Kot Bhalwal Jail, situated in the Gharota area on the outskirts of Jammu.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Mukundgarh in Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan. Shockingly, he had recently resumed his duty after a period of leave, making the circumstances surrounding his demise even more baffling.

The events unfolded early on morning when the sound of a gunshot pierced the silence of the jail premises. The alertness of security personnel was triggered by this alarming sound, prompting them to emerge from their barracks. To their shock and dismay, they discovered Head Constable Rakesh Kumar lying lifeless in a pool of blood at the main entrance of the high-security jail. Beside him lay his service rifle, an AK-47.

While the preliminary investigation suggests that it may be a case of suicide, the exact circumstances and underlying reasons behind this tragic incident will only be definitively ascertained once a thorough investigation has been completed.
