Kumble Praises Team India’s ‘Clinical and Consistent’ Performance in 2-0 Sweep Over West Indies
Shubman Gill leads India to first Test series win as captain, KL Rahul anchors decisive chase in New Delhi
New Delhi, Oct 14: Former India cricketer and coach Anil Kumble has praised Team India for their “clinical and consistent” performance in the two-Test series against the West Indies. India defeated the visitors by seven wickets in the second Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, completing a 2-0 series sweep.
This victory marked India’s tenth consecutive Test win against the West Indies and their 122nd overall Test win, surpassing South Africa to climb to third in the World Test Championship standings. It also represents India’s first Test series triumph under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, following the drawn 2-2 series in England earlier this year.
KL Rahul played a pivotal role in the second Test, scoring an unbeaten 58 off 108 balls with six fours and two sixes, guiding India to the modest target of 121 in just one hour on day five. Despite the West Indies’ resistance through twin centuries by John Campbell and Shai Hope, along with a resilient 79 run last wicket stand, India sealed the win efficiently.
Former India batter S Badrinath also praised Gill’s leadership and batting evolution, highlighting his growth since the England tour. The series win adds 12 crucial points to India’s World Test Championship tally, bringing their point percentage to 61.9%.
The team’s dominant performance reflects a balanced combination of strong captaincy, disciplined bowling, and reliable batting, underscoring India’s continued ascendancy in international Test cricket.
